Dog hiking camp and daycare

How it works

Dog Camp SLO is a  dog hiking camp and daycare serving San Luis Obispo and the surrounding area! Our structured pack walks provide exercise, mental and physical stimulation, and socialization for your dog.  I pick your pet up from your house in the morning, take them hiking throughout the day, then drop your dog off happy and tired at the end of the day.  I am licensed and insured and pet CPR and First-Aid certified.

Structured Exercise

for a healthy dog

While your dog is with me, we will go on two hikes, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  In a typical day, we walk between 6 and 10 miles. We rest for lunch between hikes and take breaks during hikes as needed.

Mental Stimulation

for a happy dog

Walking in new environments exposes your dog to a variety of sights, sounds, and smells. This helps tire them not only physically, but mentally as well!  In addition, our pack walks provide important social interaction that helps with socialization and  can instill good behavior.

Pick-up and Drop-off Included

for a stress-free owner

I pick up and drop off your pet each day.  Typically, pickups are between 9 and 10 and drop offs between 3 and 4.  I coordinate with the owner to figure out the best options for this.  Some owners greet me at the door, others give me a key to pick up the dog myself.  Let me know what works for you.

About Dog camp

Hi, I'm Natalie!  I have been working with animals professionally, for over a decade.  I have a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science and have worked in animal shelters, animal hospitals, and have led countless pack walks!  I truly love animals and can assure you that your dog is in good hands!

I moved to Los Osos in 2017 and worked as a behavior consultant at an animal hospital in San Luis Obispo for a year and a half.    During my time at the animal hospital, many of my clients told me that they couldn't find a good daycare option that provided the exercise and stimulation that dogs require.

Prior to moving to San Luis Obispo, I lived in Santa Cruz and worked both for the County animal shelter and a dog hiking camp.  The hiking camp I worked for in Santa Cruz was wildly successful and was loved by both the dogs and their owners. Now I'm bringing that model to SLO County!

I've led hundreds of  dogs on pack walks and have over a decade of experience working with with all sorts of animals.  Prior to working for the Santa Cruz County Animal shelter, I spent five years working for the Hawaiian Humane Society in Honolulu. I have handled thousands of homeless animals and want to help owners give their dogs what they need because happy dogs = happy humans!

What is your cancellation policy?

I ask that you please provide at least 24 hours advance notice for cancellations.  Any cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will be fully charged.

Weather Policy

If there is lightning or more than one inch of rain predicted for the following day between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Dog Camp will be cancelled.  You will not be charged for weather-related cancellation. If  lightning occurs during the course of the day, I immediately return to the vehicle and Dog Camp Is finished for the day. You will be pro-rated for the time your dog spent in Dog Camp.  During wet or muddy conditions, I walk on paved paths so that the dogs don't return home too dirty.  During hot weather, walks are near the coast where temperatures are cooler.
